School

While you work, you won’t have to worry about your children’s education. There are schools for children of all ages and nationalities, local and expat, early years to internationally accredited universities for undergrads and postgrads. English is the main teaching language in most primary schools, and some have different curriculums from Indian to British, American, Canadian and Japanese. Bear in mind that most schools have a waiting list.

Health Care

Dubai has some of the best medical professionals, hospitals and clinics, and Emirates provides great healthcare coverage for you and your dependents. You’ll also find lots of fitness and sports clubs, water and outdoor activities if you’d like to maintain an active lifestyle.

History

Dubai traces back its history to a small but thriving fishing village along the Dubai Creek in the early eighteenth century. It soon established itself as a bustling free port and trading hub with a growing pearling industry. But the biggest change came when oil was discovered in Dubai’s Fateh oil field in 1966. Since then, it’s gone from an important trading port to world’s trade and business hub.

Whether you’re into history, urban exploration, outdoor adventures or water sports, there’s so much to do, see and enjoy in Dubai. You’ll find cutting-edge and historic architecture side by side, nature and theme parks, the beach and desert. And the best thing about it is you can easily get around. On foot, public transport, or your own vehicle, you can quickly get to your destination and explore.

Culture

Immerse yourself in Dubai’s history, culture and traditions along the Dubai Creek. Explore the historical neighbourhood and traditional style villages with wind towers and courtyards, take a closer look at pottery and weaving by local artisans, and learn about local life at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. You can also pop into several museums and galleries in the area, including the Dubai Museum in the Al Fahidi Fort.

A sustainable future for all

2023 is the ‘Year of Sustainability’ in the UAE, and Emirates is leading the aviation industry’s efforts to find innovative solutions to challenges, such as enabling aircraft to be completely powered by Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Emirates operated the region’s first demonstration of such a flight with a Boeing 777-300ER, paving the way for future flights that will greatly reduce the industry’s CO2 emissions.

Dubai Can

Dubai Can was launched in February 2022 to increase awareness of the harmful effects on the environment of single-use plastics and promote the use of reusable bottles. In its first year, it has successfully reduced the use of more than 7 million 500 ml single-use plastic water bottles, inspiring companies like Emirates, to install filtered water dispensers plumbed directly from their offices’ main water supply.

The world’s business hub

Supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to make the city one of the top three global destinations for tourism and business, Dubai Business Events (DBE) ended 2022 with 232 successful bids on international business events. Along with key industry partners, including Emirates and the Dubai World Trade Centre, the next few years will see Dubai hosting the world’s congresses, meetings and incentive travel programmes.
