A major cause of passenger complaints in the aviation industry is lost bags. dnata handled 50 million bags in 2008 and one thing is certain – that number will grow by millions more in the future. The job of Baggage Services is to ensure that every one of them is handled safely and efficiently. To achieve that, new baggage handling systems are being introduced including the state-of-the-art Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) from Ultra-Trak which gives greater control over the baggage handling process, and an automatic transfer Baggage Handling System (BHS).
A new concourse - Concourse 3 – is expected to open in 2009. This will have one of the industry’s largest airport baggage handling systems, with a projected handling capacity of more than 7,000 bags per hour.
These systems are essential but it’s people that finally ensure dnata delivers an efficient service. Key roles for Baggage Services include:
• Baggage Handling Agents
• Baggage Services Supervisor
• Baggage Handling Duty Officer
• Baggage Services Superintendant
